So yesterday (jan 13, 2010) my sister went into the hospital and was induced at five in the morning. After 16 hours she gave birth with no complication to my niece, Zoey Michelle Gerber! She was born at 9:17pm weighing in at 7lbs 7oz and measuring 20 inches long! Congratulations to Kari and Jesse! I can't wait to watch her grow up!

Oh-oh-oregon part two!
Hi All! I mentioned in my last post that I would tell you more about our trip to Oregon!
The day after we arrived, we got up early and bundled up and drove up Mt. Hood to take Kari-Lynn to play in the snow! We left at like 10 in the morning and Rob and KL played with a snow disc while I kept toasty in the ski lodge! We left at about 2pm and got 20 miles from home before Rob's tire blew on the car and we were stranded without a spare or a jack! *ugh!* So we called his dad, but he was atleast an hour from the house (where he had to go to get the tire and the jack) so we waited on the side of the road for two and a half hours before his dad finally showed up, we were so cold! But I was happy when we got home safe and got warm!
The next day I didn't want to go ANYWHERE! So we didn't! When Rob's dad got home from work, we all piled into the car to go buy a christmas tree, but all the christmas tree places were CLOSED! So we went home with plans to buy one the next day.On the 23rd we got up bright and early and Rob, KL, and I went to go get a tree. We bought a big fat beautiful 7ft x-mas tree for $15! We brought it home and then went to the tire place to have the tire fixed. After being home for 20 minutes we went to Rob's friend's house where we stood in the freezing cold watching him work on his truck (oh joy!) When we got home we decorated the tree and Rob's dad put the lights up outside!
On Christmas eve we went to the mall and took KL to see Santa! These people were so accommodating! They allowed us to take our own photograph instead of having to pay $15 for 4 wallets! She was so happy to see him, and told him that she wanted a Barbie for Christmas! And regardless of it being Christmas eve, it wasn't very crowded at the mall! We stood in line for no longer than half an hour. She got a coloring book and a set of elf ears. After seeing santa, I took her into build-a-bear to look around, because we plan on taking her for her birthday! On Christmas, Rob's Aunt, Uncle, and Grandmother came over for Christmas dinner, We ate and opened presents and had a wonderful time! Kari-Lynn cleaned up! she got a barbie, a baby doll, a cookie monster, a school bus, and a bunch of toy cars!
After Christmas we calmed down with our trips a little, but we did do a few really great things such as taking a trip to multnomah falls, a date night for mommy and daddy, and a visit to Rob's uncle's deli and a surprise dinner with his grandma! It snowed at home and we had lots of lazy days cuddling at the house watching TV!
Boy oh boy do we miss Daddy, but it wont be too long before we are together again!
In the coming weeks, we are looking forward to the birth of my sister's daughter, Zoey Michelle. She will be induced Wednesday morning! Kari-Lynn turns 3 on February 8th and we are planning a build-a-bear party (and much to our surprise, her due date twin, Tallulah, from Alabama is also having a build-a-bear party for HER third birthday which is on February 14th!)

tooth update!
So today I went to the dentist in hopes that they would take my wisdom tooth out and I would be rid of all this pain! I went in and they gave me some x-rays to evaluate wether or not I would need to see an oral surgeon or if they would have been able to yank it out right then and there.
Unfortunately they were not able to take it out today because the root of the tooth was directly next to the nerve (boo!) so I will have to see an oral surgeon. chances are I wont get in to see one before I leave for Oregon, so I will have to make the appointment for the week immediately following my return.
Here is a picture of my x-rays...just for fun!

one week left!
So our countdown has finally come down to one week before Kari-Lynn and I hop on a plane headed for Oregon. We leave at 11am on Alaska airlines and arrive in Portland OR at 12:55 pm. We are so excited to be spending Christmas with Daddy and all the fun things we are going to do, including playing in the snow, perhaps visiting the beach, or visiting a science museum!
The past week has been slightly uneventful, though my wisdom tooth has been pushing through for the last few years and has now started flairing up, swelling like it never has before. It was so swollen on thursday morning that I couldn't even shut my mouth. I loaded Kari-Lynn into the stroller and walked to the Urgent Care. There they prescribed me some ibuprofen and some amoxicillin (just in case it was infected) and recommended I visit the dentist, and was informed that my insurance would cover an extraction! When I got home, I immediately called around and found a dentist that could get me in on Monday afternoon. I go in tomorrow to get my wisdom tooth pulled, only six days before I leave for Oregon! I am so looking forward to the relief of having this tooth gone!
Yesterday we spent the day with my Mother in law to exchange gifts for christmas. She got Kari-Lynn a couple of outfits, a couple of books, some hair things, flash cards and the Caring Corners Mrs. Goodbee doll house, which she LOVES!
I hope everyone has a great holiday, and I will update as soon as I can!

Stomach Flu!
So the Friday following Thanksgiving, Betty (my step-mom's mom) came home from her other daughter's house with the stomach flu. No surprise that on Sunday night, Kari-Lynn came down with the same stomach flu! six hours, ten diapers, four baths, and four changes of sheets later she fell asleep and was no worse for the wear.
Yesterday my dad came home from work sick with the same bug and last night it hit me too! Blech! The only one left is Michelle who may be lucky enough to have evaded it all together! I hate being sick, and I am glad this bug has passed us quickly! ick!
Hope everyone is well and staying healthy!

Thanksgiving weekend and the big move!
Hi everyone! It has been a crazy few weeks since the last post!
On November 7th, we had a baby shower for my younger sister Kari, it was a lot of fun and she got a ton of amazing gifts, including the blanket that I worked so hard on to make! To the left is a photo of Kari having just opened the blanket that I had made for her!
Just a short two weeks later we began our move from Maricopa to Ahwatukee. It went off without a hitch and we are now comfortable in our new home and we love it here! We are much more centrally located, and it also makes me feel safer to be closer to hospitals and doctor's offices! To the right is a photo of mine and Kari-Lynn's new bedroom!
This weekend has been quite evenful! On Wednesday, Kari-Lynn and I went to my sister, Kari's, house to spend the night toget ready for Thanksgiving! The next morning we woke up and began cooking and cleaning. The family all started to arrive around 1:00 pm and from there we all ate and had a great time catching up! That night, Kari-Lynn and I spent the night in the hotel with my mom and step-dad, and the following day went to the park that I used to go to when I was little and we met some of the people my step-dad hung out with when he was in high school. They were all really nice and we had a great time talking and making fun of the late 80's early 90's hair styles in the yearbooks! On Saturday we had lunch at Ikea and then spent the afternoon at McCormick Railroad park in Scottsdale and finished off the night at the Phoenix Zoo's Zoolights. It has been quite an eventful weekend, and I am looking forward to the relaxing week ahead!

This month is going to be kind of quiet as far as updates go, so I wanted to tell you all what the next few months will be bringing our little family!
November: On November 9th, We are having a shower for my sister, Kari, to celebrate the upcoming arrival of my brand new niece, Zoey Michelle. On November 20th, we are moving to Phoenix! On Thanksgiving we are having Dinner at Kari's place and my mom, Brant (my step-dad), and colty (My baby brother), are going to be coming down from Montana for the event. The day after Thanksgiving, Mom, Brant, Colton, Kari-Lynn, and I are loading up the car and driving to California and spending three days at Disneyland for Colton's birthday!
December: Most of the month of December we are going to be settling into our new apartment, and then on the 20th, we are leaving Arizona and boarding a flight to Portland Oregon to go spend Christmas with Daddy! We will be coming home January 9th!

It's been a long time!
Hi everyone! It's been quite a while (nine months!) since I've updated this blog. So I'll give a quick run-down on what 2009 has brought us!
January: On the 9th of Janua
ry Kari-Lynn ended up in the hospital for a week due to a MRSA infection in her leg. The infection turned into an abscess that was hard as rock and was the size of a large walnut. She had surgery to have it removed after being on IV antibiotics for several days. She did great in surgery thanks to many prayers from friends and family. She went home the day after surgery and we couldn't have been happier to be home. Later on that month, we visited California for Kari-Lynn's first road trip and visit to California. There we met my mom, my brother, and my step-dad. Many family members were able to meet Kari-Lynn for the first time and they all loved her! (of course!) We still had not seen Daddy :(
February: Kari-Lynn turned 2! The Cardinals were in the Superbowl! And even though they didn't win, we still had a great time! (still no Daddy)
March: Although March was relatively uneventful, this is the month that Kari and Jesse really became an official item! Welcome to the famz Uncle Jesse!
April: The best thing about this month? Rob came home for a visit! It was amazing, fun and so incredibly wonderful to be back in the arms of the man I love after a six month wait! We spent the week together as a family in a hotel room in phoenix. When our hotel stay came to an end, we went to his mother's house for the weekend and she took us to the zoo for Kari-Lynn's first zoo trip, and we got pictures taken with the easter bunny and had an easter egg hunt on easter morning at grandma's house. It was hard to say goodbye
when his visit ended, then, it always is!
May: Nothing special!
June/July/August: Early June was uneventful but at the end it was a lot of fun. Rob came home for a weekend and we got to see him for one day. Shortly after Daddy's visit, Kari-Lynn and I boarded a plane and flew to Montana to visit Gramma Tanna, Colty, Deideo, and gramma Lala. We had a great time going to the Phillips county fair, the circus, and setting off fireworks on the 4th of July!
September: Rob came home on September 4th for a 10 day visit. We had a lot of fun just spending time together the whole time he was here. We went to the zoo, took a drive up to tortilla flats, AZ, and fed the ducks and swans on the golf course. Kari-Lynn was so glad to be with Daddy again, and so was I! While he was here, Rob gave me my engagement ring and we got our engagement photos done courtesy of David Bozyk of everlasting images http://www.everlastingimages.net/ Thank you so much David I love them so much! You are destined for photography greatness! I can't wait to hire you for our wedding!!!
Now it's october and I have tons of stuff to look forward to from here on out! I'll try and keep up on updating this blog more often, It's so nice to have a family blog and I love to read family blogs, so I really want to keep up on this!!

Yay!
Here we are almost a week into the new year, and so far everything is going great! Kari-Lynn is still in her toddler bed which is definitely great and I'm pretty sure she's gonna stay there! YAY! We found out this week that Daddy will be coming home to us hopefully soon! We still don't have a homecoming date, but it's coming!
I have started working on some new year's resolutions, and I have chosen the ever popular resolution to lose weight! Luckily I have a great group of people who are on this path with me, including the girls on my single moms message board and my new friend in my neighborhood. I have been keeping a food diary for over a week, and for the past three days I have been taking walks with my neighbor to help start an exercise regiment! Hopefully I stick with it this time! I have good faith that I will be able to!
Last night was a pretty funny night! Kari-Lynn comes running from her room into mine telling me that there is a MONSTER in her room! I took her into her room, flicked on the dim pink lamp and asked her if she saw any monsters in her room. She looked around and looked at me and told me no, but she still wasn't convinced! She asked me to call Daddy, so I complied, he also tried to convince her that there were absolutely NO monsters in her room. After about an hour of laying down on Mommy's bed and watching cartoons, Kari-Lynn was finally ready to go try sleeping in her room again. Needless to say, we're going to have to start adding a Monster hunt to the bedtime routine!
